vegetarian
n. A person who does not eat meat or fish. They may however, eat eggs, cheese and other dairy products. Ethical vegetarians often avoid fur or leather.
vegan
n. A strict vegetarian who eats plant products only, especially one who uses no products derived from animals, such as honey, fur or leather.
ahimsa
n. A Buddhist and Hindu doctrine expressing belief in the sacredness of all living creatures and urging the avoidance of harm and violence.
jai·gong slang. Cantonese for the word 'vegetarian' (useful word to know in a chinese restaurant).

The 20 minute video "Truth or Dairy" will follow dinner. This is an entertaining yet very informative vegan film starring presented by poet Benjamin Zephaniah and features The B52s, Consolidated, Uri Geller, Casey Kasem, k.d. lang, Moby, Martin Shaw, Heather Small (M-people), and Spice Williams, and produced by The Vegan Society, UK. This video is appropriate for all ages.
Our extensive library of videos will be on display and available for checking out on a first come basis free for members and a $5 refundable deposit for non-members. Bring your friends for this entertaining evening.
