n. A person who does not eat meat or fish. They may however, eat eggs, cheese and other dairy products. Ethical vegetarians often avoid fur or leather.

n. A strict vegetarian who eats plant products only, especially one who uses no products derived from animals, such as honey, fur or leather.

n. A Buddhist and Hindu doctrine expressing belief in the sacredness of all living creatures and urging the avoidance of harm and violence.
jai·gong slang. Cantonese for the word 'vegetarian' (useful to know in a chinese restaurant).

Adults $5 suggested donation/Children, Students, Seniors with ID free. Early Bird Special – free for everyone to 10:30 .m. Everyone is welcome to another exciting World Vegetarian Celebration. There is so much going on all day, you should plan to stay the whole day including a catered vegan dinner at 6:30 p.m. for $10. Check the enclosed flyer and our WVD web page for details. We will be featuring International Vegan Food to sample or buy and Food Demos with recipes and samples. There will be organizations participating with educational literature on health, humane, environmental, and spiritual topics.
Our outstanding speakers include: Dr. Neal Barnard M.D.; Dr. John McDougall M.D.; Howard Lyman, The Mad Cowboy; Dr. Rick Dina D.C.; Kiki Powers M.S.; Dr. Ruza Borgdanovich N.D.; Dr. Nana Kwaku Opare N.D.; Master Ming Yi Wang, MBA; Ingrid Newkirk from PETA, Julia Butterfly Hill, and more. A new event this year will be an Organic Athlete Forum featuring Dr. Doug Graham, Olympic Trainer; Rosaland Gruben, Fitness Expert; and Dr. Ruth Heidrich, Pro-Tri-Athlete and cancer survivor. There will be international entertainment featuring Wayne Huey, Chinese Panda Acrobat; singer Kathryn Grimm; and dancers and musicians galore. A new feature this year will be an Eco-Fashion Show organized by Nzuri Mashama from Healthy thru Nature Institute and an Eco-Ville display. Our Children’s Corner will feature vegan and compassionate enhancing activities.
