vegetarian
n. A person who does not eat meat or fish. They may however, eat eggs, cheese and other dairy products. Ethical vegetarians often avoid fur or leather.
vegan
n. A strict vegetarian who eats plant products only, especially one who uses no products derived from animals, such as honey, fur or leather.
ahimsa
n. A Buddhist and Hindu doctrine expressing belief in the sacredness of all living creatures and urging the avoidance of harm and violence.
jai·gong slang. Cantonese for the word 'vegetarian' (useful word to know in a chinese restaurant).
Halloween Costume Party Potluck Sunday October 30, 2005. SFVS and East Bay Veg*ans co-host this fun annual event. 5:00 p.m. Socializing & Appetizers; 6:00 Dining, followed by Games & Dancing. 633 Glenwood Isle, Alameda; Hostess: Elizabeth Bechtold. Door donation: $1 with food; $10 without food. Attire: Costumes or Dressy. Prizes for best costumes. No charge for those arriving two hours early to volunteer setting up and making wonderful raw appetizers and entrees under the guidance of Elizabeth. Directions: From 880, take High Street Alameda Exit. At stoplight, turn west onto High Street and proceed over bridge 1.5 miles. Turn right onto Otis Drive and right onto Glenwood.
