Video Night at the Red Victorian Peace Café Time: Friday, October 28, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. Location: 1665 Haight Street, San Francisco. Vegetarian and Vegan food are available before and during the show. For more information, call the Society at 415-273-5481. SFVS and In Defense of Animals will be co-sponsoring this event celebrating Vegan Awareness Week featuring “Peaceable Kingdom” with a special guest appearance of Ken Williams, Vegan Body Builder and winner of several national titles for Weight Lifting. If you have seen the film, come anyway and bring a non-vegetarian friend to hear Ken speak about vegan diet. “Peaceable Kingdom” shows the wonderful work of Lorri Bauston as she rescues various animals from their fate as food animals bound for slaughter. Although it is filled with pathos and sadness, it has moments of joy and happiness showing frightened, sick animals develop personalities as they are nursed back to health in the Farm Sanctuary and showing people develop compassion as they relate to the animals in a meaningful way. This is the second documentary from Tribe of Heart, makers of compassionate award winning films “The Witness” that we showed last month at our Video Night Out, the last Friday of the month.
