vegetarian
n. A person who does not eat meat or fish. They may however, eat eggs, cheese and other dairy products. Ethical vegetarians often avoid fur or leather.
vegan
n. A strict vegetarian who eats plant products only, especially one who uses no products derived from animals, such as honey, fur or leather.
ahimsa
n. A Buddhist and Hindu doctrine expressing belief in the sacredness of all living creatures and urging the avoidance of harm and violence.
jai·gong slang. Cantonese for the word 'vegetarian' (useful word to know in a chinese restaurant).
Thanksgiving Day Dining Out Thursday, November 24 at 11:30 a.m. Millennium Restaurant*, 580 Geary Street, corner of Jones, in the Savoy Hotel, San Francisco *Voted Best Vegetarian Restaurant in USA by readers of VEG NEWS magazine. MUNI Bus #38 with East Bay connections at Trans Bay Terminal or BART at Montgomery Exit.

Mail and make checks out to SFVS, c/o Joseph Cadiz, 73 Rondel Place, San Francisco CA 94103 by November 18. Since space is limited (we will be in the private dining room that holds only 30 people), this event will be for members and their guests only, on a first pay basis. The special SFVS price will be $45.00 per person; $25 for children. Price includes Vegan Hors d’oeuvres, Salad, Entrée, Dessert, Coffee, Tea, or Vegan Nog, Tax & Tip.
